Italy: Armed attack against administrator of nuclear company

from the press, rough transl by waronsociety, Genoa, 05/07/2012:

Ambush in Genoa against the administrator of Ansaldo Nuclear, a subsidiary of Ansaldo Energia, owned by Finmeccanica.

When arriving at his house, Roberto Adinolfi, 53, was wounded in the leg outside his home in the Marassi area. He was with his son of 20 years. He was approached by two persons on a scooter, with their faces covered by helmets, one of whom opened fire with a semiautomatic pistol, hitting at the knee and causing a fracture of the tibia.

Three shots were fired against the manager. Only one hit, in his right leg.

His condition is not serious. According to doctors, the manager should not have trouble recovering.

No claim of responsibility. The manner of the attack to Robert Adinolfi “suggests a scope of subversive type,” anticipating Adnkronos’ investigation. And yet, “we do not exclude other motives, such as personal reasons.”

In recent months, the call of some anarchist groups “to raise the bar,” “to think about moving to a stage that can provide for armed action,” has been circulating on the web.

The police investigations are seizing images of surveillance systems operating in the city and gathering evidence on the scene.

The police investigation by ROS point to ultra-left extremism. The investigators, according to reports, would rule out the anarchist angle even though the investigations, in absence of a claim of responsibility, are of 360 degrees.

Ansaldo Nuclear, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica, was founded in 1989 by the merger of NIRA (Advanced Nuclear Reactors Italian) and Ansaldo Nuclear Engineering. In 1999 it became a division of Ansaldo Energia, while since 2005 it is a joint stock company 100% controlled by Ansaldo Energia. It has 170 employees, produces third generation nuclear reactors and cores, and is based in Genoa.
