Chile: Communique from José Miguel Sánchez Jiménez after being transferred and beaten for refusing a humilitating search

from publicacionrefractario, transl waronsociety:

The comrade José Miguel Sanchez (52 years) is a former member of the FPMR (Manuel Rodriguez Patriotic Front), active member of the armed struggle against the Pinochet dictatorship. Indifferent to the “democratic transition” he remains fighting, being arrested and sentenced to 20 years on being found with firearms and participating in various combative actions.

During his long stay in the prison he has carried out various mobilizations claimed along with the rest of the “common” prisoners. After obtaining his first prison benefit, Miguel broke the sentence for which he is imprisoned up to the present, in which he maintains claiming himself as a revolutionary and anti-system. In January 2013 he was punitively transferred by the prison guards from the High Security Prison to Colina II.

His letter:

To conscientious minds and to the public opinion,

I, José Miguel Sanchez Jiminez, subversive anti-systemic prisoner, sentenced to a total of 20 years for armed robbery and illegal transport of two firearms communicate:

That, on the date of January 3rd 2013, without any motive and without prior warning, the repressive body of the gendarmería of Chile proceeded to transfer me from the High Security Prison (CAS) to the Colina II Prison.

Once arrived to this prison, I was isolated in the punishment section until the following day when they called me to send me to the module where I would live; next they demanded that I remove all my clothes, leaving me stark naked; then they demanded that I do squats which I opposed due to considering this a denigrating act, and for this I was given hard beatings with clubs to different parts of my body by a lieutenant thug and 3 privates; this being so I still did not comply with the demand.

I was taken to Module 4 of Colina II, where I was gratefully received by a former frentista and a group of good people who I have met during the almost 19 years that I have been locked up in different prisons.

Now, with arrangements that my family and a precise group of lawyers are carrying out, they are arranging for my return to the High Security Prison (CAS), where at least I would live in a more dignified way, where my subversive compas are and where I would be closer to my family’s home.

I denounce that this arbitrary transfer is a measure that intends to break the bonds of solidarity and family, intending to isolate me from my environment, but they are wrong: They will never break me nor achieve their goal! Today I am more whole than ever and with an unshakeable combative nature, I will come out of this stronger and more hateful toward the dominant class.

DESTROY THE PRISON WALLS!

WHILE THERE IS MISERY THERE WILL BE REBELLION!

PRISONERS TO THE STREETS TO FIGHT!

WITH DIRECT ACTION AND DIGNITY, UP WITH THOSE WHO FIGHT!

REBELLION NOW!
