March 22: A package containing explosive material exploded in the hands of a militant of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) which arrived in their home in the Cuautitlan Izcalli municipality, ministerial agents reported.“If you wish to hear the invitation aloud, press the PRI logo,” read a message written on the package, which upon being handled exploded in María Hernández Núñez’s hands.
The woman pressed the logo and there was a slight explosion, like a small “dove” firework, which caused minor lesions on two fingers of one hand and on her face.
The attack happened around 11 AM of this Thursday, at the residence 20 Capricornio St, Valle de la Hacienda neighborhood.
The apocryphal package presumed to have a false invitation from the president of the Municipal Committee of the PRI in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Javier Núñez Núñez, for attendance at an event of the Party.
The ministerial agents said that the explosion was similar to that of a rocket made from gunpowder, but not high impact, so that the lesions to the victim were minor.
