During the early hours of Thursday June 27 more than a dozen schools in Santiago were de-occupied, some by voluntary agreement and others through violent evictions. The order to put an end to the occupations was decreed by the Minister of the Interior in order to carry out the primaries for the presidential election on June 30th. It is estimated that more than 150 people were arrested for infraction of the Law of Voting and Popular Scrutiny (#18,700) which carries sentences up to 3 years, in the Carmela Carvajal, Manuel de Salas and Amunátegui schools.
