Chile: Incendiary attack against the Circle of Retired Prison Officers

In the early hours of Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at about 2am an anonymous shadow approached and left an incendiary device in the doorway of the Circle of retired prison officers located at José Toribio Medina #72 and Erasmo Escalo, in the middle of the Brasil neighborhood.

The drum of gas along with two butane gas canisters, more cables, and a battery, was successfully activated, burning the door and part of the facade of the facility which shelters miserable torturers in their retirement. Continue reading →

Merely being an eco-extremist propagandist, I am forced to pay attention to reactions of anarchist and leftist readers to the actions of ITS and other eco-extremist groups. The first reaction I encounter is usually one of disgust. How can eco-extremists carry out indiscriminate acts against property and people, such as burning buses and sending mail-bombs, where “innocent bystanders” may also get hurt? What if a child was near a bomb, or what if the secretary to the scientist, a mother and a wife, opens the package and gets killed instead? Below we leave some words from anarchist compañera Mónica Caballero in relation to the logic and functioning of the respect unit (m-R) in multiple prisons in the Spanish State. With the aim of directly controlling the population imprisoned there and, with the preventive excuse of “resolving” frictions between individuals in–forced–cohabitation, these units are fundamentally destined to avoid serious problems between the prisoners and the institution, trapping any rebellious impulse or attitude that questions the imposed consensus. And working on the basis of submission to rules and protocols that maintain order, they seek the participation and collaboration of the inmates. Undoubtedly, we find similarities with the logic of the “outside,” since the project of prison is a vital part of the system in its totality through which it reproduces the same forms of the existent Domination.
